Don McLean’s Original Manuscript to “American Pie” Sells for More than $1.2 Million at Auction

Capitol RecordsDon McLean has said bye-bye to the original manuscript of his classic song “American Pie,” and in return will be receiving a nice nest egg. The 16-page document, which also includes typed drafts of the tune, sold today for $1,205,000 at an auction held at Christie’s in New York City. The manuscript was expected to sell for between $1 million and $1.5 million.
