Sample Japanese culture and fondly remember those who have passed on with traditional Japanese dance, music, foods and demonstrations. See festival goers in colorful kimono or yukata and listen to heart thumping taiko drumming. Martial arts performances captivate you. Wander through craft exhibits and demonstrations. Bon Odori is a traditional celebration of generations to welcome the spirit of ancestors back with happiness and an affirmation that we are grateful for the sacrifices of things that came before us and the things we have today. All are welcome. Participate in dancing in the street with classical Japanese dancing or the Tankobushi which is one of the first dances children learn. Refresh yourself with made-from-scratch Japanese cultural foods and sip beer and sake in the garden and listen to live jazz. http://seattlebetsuin.org or 206.329.0800.
