Listen to a unique and soulful Jazz vocalist and musician of not only the Great American Songbook but also of beautifully intense and rich music of the heart. Curtis Stigers has filled stadiums and appeared on Jay Leno’s and David Letterman’s shows. He is often placed at the forefront of jazz singers. Stigers is unique in that he has influences of a vibrant cross-section of pop, folk, country and soul song writers like Bob Dylan and Hayes Carll. His music has a flavor of Dinah Washington “This Bitter Earth,” with a taste of Patsy Cline. Stigers loves Madeline Peyroux’s music. His music has a hint of Miles Davis with emotion and vulnerability. Curtis also plays tenor sax, yet he says, “I’m not really a jazz sax player,” “but my sax playing is rough around the edges and scruffy, like a drunken old-school rhythm and blues player,” which is perfect for his latest album. www.jazzalley.com or call 206.441.9729.
