Celebrate the return of the sun in the beauty and splendor of spring. Listen to the dramatic intensity of music of a wild thunderstorm in Eric Whitacre’s “Cloudburst”. Morten Lauridsen applies a delicate touch to the exquisite poetry of Rilke in “Les Chansons des Roses” as his music floats through the air. “Five Flower Songs” of Benjamin Britten provide a present day contrast to Renaissance madrigals of springtime. Bid adieu to winter and celebrate love with Debussy’s “Trois Chansons”. Seattle Pro Musica celebrates 40 years of choral beauty. They have received the distinguished Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence and the ASCAP-Chorus Award for Adventurous Programming. The group has appeared on National Public Radio’s Saint Paul Sunday and was selected one of thirteen choirs nationwide for the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpieces Choral Initiative. Seattle Pro Musica performs a repertoire ranging from Medieval chant to choral and orchestral masterpieces to contemporary music. http://townhallseattle.org or call 206.652.4255.
