Andrew MacPhersonLionel Richie was celebrated Sunday night at BET Awards 14 in Los Angeles, where he accepted a lifetime achievement award.
Several artists paid tribute to Lionel’s music. John Legend performed Lionel’s solo hit “Hello” and The Commodores‘ “Still”; R&B artist Ledisi took on “Brick House”; and gospel singer Yolanda Adams covered “Jesus Is Love.”
In accepting his award, Lionel advised the musicians in attendance, “Soul is a feeling, not a color. Talent is a God-given gift, and not a category.”
He then took the mic and delivered a medley of “Easy” and “All Night Long (All Night).”
