Danny Clinch/John VarvatosLed Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page is featured in a new ad campaign for the John Varvatos brand of clothing and accessories. The rock legend is paired with up-and-coming blues musician Gary Clark Jr. for the company's 2013 spring initiative, which is dubbed "The Master & the Young Guitar-Slinger."
Page and Clark are featured, together and separately, in a series of black-and-white images shot by photographer Danny Clinch at the historic London venue the Rivoli Ballroom. Page is seen wearing a Varvatos brand jacket, shirt, silk tie, pants and boots, as well as sunglasses in some of the pics.
A video promo also was filmed for the campaign that shows Jimmy being driven in a vintage limousine and then walking through the streets of London, eventually making his way into the Rivoli Ballroom. Throughout the clip, which can be viewed online now, Clark is seen playing a solo rendition of his song "When My Train Pulls In" on the Rivoli's stage.
"Jimmy Page has been a music and fashion icon of mine since 1970. He has been a major influence and I am honored to call Jimmy a friend," says designer Varvatos in a statement. "Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal -- amazing guitar player, singer, songwriter and friend. Having 'The Master' and the 'Young Guitar-Slinger' together in our campaign is a dream come true."
John Varvatos has featured a variety of famous rockers in its advertisements over the years, including Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith's Joe Perry, Iggy Pop, Slash and ex-Jam frontman Paul Weller.
