New Jimi Hendrix Single, "Somewhere," Tops Billboard Sales Chart

Experience Hendrix LLC/Legacy RecordingsAlmost 45 years after it was recorded, the recently released Jimi Hendrix song "Somewhere" has topped a Billboard chart.  The track, which is the lead single from the forthcoming archival Hendrix album People, **** and Angels, landed at #1 on the magazine's Hot Singles Sales Chart, dislodging the Adele smash "Skyfall" from the peak position.

The late guitar icon recorded "Somewhere" in March 1968 at Sound Center Studios in New York City.  Accompanying Hendrix during the session were his Band of Gypsys drummer Buddy Miles and Stephen Stills, who put aside his guitar to play bass on the track.

People, **** and Angels is due out on March 5.  The album offers a collection of 12 previously unreleased studio tracks Hendrix recorded with various collaborators in 1968 and '69 while in the process of preparing a follow-up to what was to be his final studio effort, 1968's Electric Ladyland.
