StoneMusicFest.comBilly Joel and Van Halen will be heading Down Under in April to perform at the same musical event. The inaugural Stone Music Festival will take place on April 20 and 21 at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia, and will feature Van Halen and the Piano Man serving as headliners for the respective first and second days of the event.
Among the other artists set to hit the stage during the fest are ex-Ramones drummer Richie Ramone and the new supergroup Kings of Chaos, which features Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott, ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, longtime Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens, former Deep Purple bassist/singer Glenn Hughes and Guns N' Roses alumni Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Gilby Clarke.
Currently, the Stone Music Festival is scheduled to be the first 2013 concert for both Joel and Van Halen. The singer/pianist also will play a previously announced set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 27, while the veteran hard-rock band has three confirmed early-summer shows in Japan -- June 21 in Tokyo, and June 24 and 26 in Osaka.
The Stone Music fest is named after the landmark 1974 Australian movie Stone, which told the tale of disenfranchised Vietnam War veterans who turn their backs on convention and start their own society based on their passion for motorcycles. The event seeks to bring together music fans of all ages in celebration of freedom and rock 'n' roll.
