U.N. Day Concert Featuring Stevie Wonder, Sting and Others to Air on Centric and BET

UN Photo/Eskinder DebebeIn October, Stevie Wonder, Sting and others brought a humanitarian message to New York City's United Nations to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the organization.  Now, the star-studded concert is set to air as a TV special called Stevie Wonder with Friends: Celebrating a Message of Peace.  The show debuts on the Centric TV network on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, and will get an encore screening on March 3 at 11 a.m. ET on BET.

The United Nations Day celebration "was such a spirited and fun night," Wonder says in a statement.  It's important, he adds, that "a day and the desire for peace... always be recognized and celebrated."  Other featured performers include Wyclef Jean and Janelle Monae, the emerging R&B singer who appears on fun.’s Grammy award-winning song "We Are Young."

The United Nations Day event was billed as an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the organization's decades-long history, and to work for peace and the protection of people worldwide.
