Sterling PublishingKinks frontman Ray Davies will be visiting New York City during the coming week to promote his new memoir, Americana: The Kinks, The Riff, The Road, The Story, which hit stores this past Tuesday. The acclaimed singer/songwriter will make a few TV appearances and also will participate in a book-signing event.
Davies' in-store appearance is scheduled for this Friday at Barnes & Noble's Union Square location in New York. The event, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, also will feature a conversation with Ray. Fans purchasing copies of Americana will have access to priority seating.
The 69-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also will be a guest on a few TV shows during his stay in New York. ***** appear on Bloomberg TV's Taking Stock with Pimm Fox on Tuesday, MSNBC's Morning Joe on Thursday and the local Fox 5 program Good Day New York on Friday.
In Americana, Davies delves into his conflicted feelings about the United States, while sharing his recollections of such events as The Kinks' first stateside trek and the group's four-year ban from touring in the country U.S. In addition, Ray also details the infamous 2004 incident in New Orleans when he was shot in the leg during a robbery. The book includes an eight-page insert featuring candid photos of Ray and The Kinks.
