Danny ClinchUpon receiving the President's Merit Award from the Recording Academy on January 21 in Los Angeles, Neil Young told an audience of music producers and engineers that he wants to "make music sound technically better."
Young will have a chance to explain just how he plans to accomplish that during a speaking engagement on March 11 that's part of the South by Southwest conference and festival in Austin, Texas.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is behind a high-quality service called Pono, which, according to its Web site, "will significantly improve the way you get to hear and feel your favorite music."
In 2006, Young was the keynote speaker for the music portion of South by Southwest. He didn't perform that year, and currently he's not listed among this year's showcasing artists.
