Surfdog RecordsEric Clapton has announced the fourth, and apparently final, concert he's planning to play in the U.S. in 2014. The show is scheduled to take place on May 3 at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta.
Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public on March 15 at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster.com. However, those buying season passes for the Chastain Park Amphitheatre will be able to access tickets for the Clapton show starting March 2 at 10 a.m. ET at ChastainSeries.com.
The guitar legend's brief stateside run begins with an April 27 headlining appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and also includes an April 30 performance in Memphis, Tennessee, and a May 2 visit to Birmingham, Alabama.
In other news, Clapton has postponed a planned concert in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday that was to have been part of his recently launched tour of the Far East. A statement on Clapton's official website says Eric's management decided to postpone the show because of "recent events," while noting that he "looks forward to playing in Bangkok in the future."
The "events" mentioned in the message almost undoubtedly refer to the many recent violent incidents in Bangkok related to anti-government protests that have been held in the city during the last few months. According to reports, more than 20 people have been killed and hundreds have been injured since demonstrations began in November. The protesters are seeking to oust Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her ruling party.
Clapton kicked off his 2014 tour itinerary last week with a series of Japanese shows that winds down this Friday in Tokyo. After that, Eric will head to Singapore, where ***** play a concert this Tuesday, followed by performances in Dubai on March 6 and Bahrain on March 8. After his U.S. road trip, the 68-year-old rocker also has five late-June concerts lined up in Europe. Check out all of Clapton's confirmed tour dates at EricClapton.com/Tour.
