Chronicle BooksNever-before-seen photos of The Rolling Stones' 1972 tour from the late photographer Jim Marshall will be featured in a new exhibit opening today, July 5, at the Steven Kasher Gallery in Manhattan. "Jim Marshall: The Rolling Stones and Beyond" will be on display through September 8.
Kasher told Time.com, “It’s really astounding when you look at the breadth of his work. Jim was able to penetrate the inner sanctum and be welcomed both on stage and offstage.” The gallery show will consist of one room of Stones images and a second room of photos of more than 30 rock, jazz and folk artists including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash and Miles Davis.
The Rolling Stones photos will also be on display at the EMP Museum in Seattle beginning July 14. A book, The Rolling Stones 1972, will be published later this month by Chronicle Books with a foreword by Keith Richards.
