The Beach Boys' Children Form New Group Called California Saga

Facebook.com/CalSagaWhile The Beach Boys are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with a world tour and a brand-new studio album, a bunch of the original band members' offspring have been getting in on the fun by forming a tribute group that's been opening some shows for the legendary surf rockers.

California Saga features Brian Wilson's daughters Carnie and Wendy, who also are two-thirds of the pop group Wilson Phillips; Mike Love's son Christian and daughter Ambha; Al Jardine's sons Matt and Adam; the late Carl Wilson's son, Justyn; and the late Dennis Wilson's son, Carl B. Wilson.  The lineup also includes Carnie's husband, Rob Bonfiglio, and Carl's brother-in-law, Billy Hinsche -- a longtime Beach Boys sideman who also was a founding member of the 1960s pop group Dino, Desi & Billy.

California Saga, which is being billed as "the next chapter in the story of 'America's band,'" made their debut at a June 2 Beach Boys show in Los Angeles.  The group performs a selection of rare Beach Boys tunes that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers aren't playing on their current tour.

In a recent interview with the Ventura ****** Star, Carnie said she's hoping the fledgling band eventually will headline its own gigs and hit the recording studio.

"We just have to see what makes sense," she offered.
