Eagle Rock EntertainmentPeter Gabriel recently announced that ***** be releasing deluxe, expanded editions of his classic 1986 album, So, on September 18. Now, the acclaimed singer/songwriter has confirmed details about a documentary on the making of the landmark recording that will be issued on DVD and Blu-ray on the same day.
The video, which is part of the ongoing Classic Albums series, will boast new interviews with Gabriel and So co-producer Daniel Lanois, as well as with famed performance artist Laurie Anderson and many of the other musicians who contributed to the record. The documentary also will focus on the groundbreaking promo videos that were shot to accompany several of So's memorable tunes, including "Sledgehammer," "Big Time," "Red Rain" and the Kate Bush duet "Don't Give Up."
An abridged version of Classic Albums: So will be screened on TV around the time of the release of the DVD and Blu-ray. The film also will be available as a digital download.
As previously reported, the remastered edition of So will be issued as a single CD, a special edition three-CD set and a "super deluxe" box set. Coinciding with the release, Gabriel will head out on a brief trek with members of the original So touring band during which ***** play the album in its entirety. The Back to Front tour kicks off September 16 in Quebec City, Canada.
