The J. Geils Band Lines Up Reunion Tour, Minus Geils

Facebook.com/JGeilsBandThe J. Geils Band is set to get together again for a series of U.S. shows in the late summer, but the musician who gave the group its name won't be along for the road trip.  The band's 2012 Houseparty Tour will include four of the Boston blues-rockers' original members, singer Peter Wolf, keyboardist Seth Justman, harmonica player Magic **** and bassist Danny Klein.

A statement issued by the band members that was posted on the fan site FunkyJudge.net explains that "an ongoing legal dispute" is behind why founding guitarist John "J." Geils isn't part of the trek.  The message reveals that John's solo label, Francesca Records, is claiming ownership over the rights to the group's name, which "has hindered a working relationship with The J. Geils Band."

The J. Geils Band's Houseparty Tour gets under way with an August 25 performance at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY, and is scheduled through a September 22 show in Hampton Beach, NH.  Additional dates are expected to be announced soon.

Wolf says of the trek, "To rock it up once again with The J. Geils Band gives us a chance to share a body of work that we created and enjoy performing."
