Photo: Myriam SantosOn October 9, former Eagles guitarist Don Felder will release Road to Forever, his second solo album and his first in nearly three decades. The record features 12 songs, all of them either written or co-written by the veteran musician, and includes guest performances by such famous artists as David Crosby, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Styx's Tommy Shaw, American Idol judge Randy Jackson and founding Toto members Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro.
Felder was a member of the Eagles from 1974 until his dismissal from the group in 2001. He documented his acrimonious departure from the band in his 2008 memoir Heaven and ****: My Life in the Eagles, and his new songs also emerged from that turbulent period in his life.
During that time, the guitarist says he was motivated to "write out the stories of my life as songs." He added, "After I collected myself, I found I needed to go out and play music again, and that's how I began recording the album. In the process, I found out who I really am."
Felder currently has a handful of North American shows on his itinerary and is planning to add an number of "high-profile dates" in support of the album this fall.
