Facebook.com/Neil DiamondNeil Diamond will add one more honor to his list of career achievements when he receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next week.
The ceremony will take place Friday, August 10, at 1750 N. Vine Street in front of the famous Capitol Records Building. Hollywood Walk of Fame Chairman David Green will host the festivities, which also will feature yet-to-be named guest speakers.
The unveiling of Diamond's star takes place the day before the legendary singer/songwriter will launch a series of five shows at Los Angeles' Greek Theater. Those concerts commemorate the 40th anniversary of the pop superstar's performances at the same venue that were captured for his classic live album Hot August Night.
Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez has issued a statement suggesting that it took a while to get Diamond to open his schedule for the event.
"We finally were able to pin him down for a date to dedicate his star," she writes. "This is one busy man and we are thrilled to honor this legendary performer."
