NastyLittleMan.comPaul McCartney is estimated by The Sunday ***** of London to be worth approximately one billion dollars, but the Beatles’ legend didn’t command a big bucks salary when he performed last Friday night at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
McCartney and the other performers who took part each received exactly one pound sterling for their services. That’s a $1.57 here in the U.S.
A London 2012 spokeswoman tells the Agence France-Presse, “The top talent basically gave their services for free.”
“But in order to have a formal contract for their services you have to show an amount, so that was set at a pound, which enables them to have a contractual arrangement,” the spokeswoman added.
