PRNewsFoto/TJL ProductionsA new special featuring Ed Sullivan Show performances by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Creedence Clearwater Revival and many other stars will premiere on PBS stations starting this Saturday. Part of the network's ongoing My Music series, Ed Sullivan's Top Performers will include two appearances each by the Fab Four and The Stones, as well as footage of The Doors' only visit to the Sullivan Show stage.
The program also offers performances by such '60s pop stars as The Mamas & The Papas, The Turtles, Tom Jones, The Fifth Dimension and The Association.
TJ Lubinsky, whose TJL Productions co-produced the program, says, "This special takes you back to the original moments of the artists and songs when they first broke. [With] a focus on the late '60s, this collection of rock and roll classics exemplifies the defining backbeat in the soundtrack of our lives."
As a companion to Ed Sullivan's Top Performers, a multiple-CD collection titled Pop, Rock and Soul is being made available for purchase. The collection features more than 100 classic tracks, including songs by The Who, Van Morrison, The Beach Boys, The Lovin' Spoonful and many others.
