MSO PRA new documentary focusing on The Beach Boys' 50th anniversary reunion tour and album will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 28. The Beach Boys: Doin' It Again features footage of the band working on its 2012 studio effort, That's Why God Made the Radio, as well as performances from the group's ongoing world trek.
In addition, the film offers new interviews with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks, and rare in-studio clips of the band members recording the classic "Good Vibrations" in 1966. Doin' It Again also features tributes to late Beach Boys Carl and Dennis Wilson.
"If they'd told me back in the '60s that we'd be doing this in 2012 I would've said, 'You're crazy,'" says Brian Wilson. "There's a special chemistry between the five of us. We love each other, and it comes out in our music, in our harmonies."
Doin' It Again is one of a bevy of releases that The Beach Boys are putting out to commemorate their 50th anniversary. As previously reported, 12 of the band's albums will be reissued on September 25, and two career-spanning compilations are due out on October 9.
