Olympics Closing Ceremony Soundtrack with The Who, Ray Davies & More Available Now

PRNewsFoto/Decca Label GroupNBC may have angered music fans by declining to air some key moments of Sunday's star-studded 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony in London, but now the entire soundtrack to the extravaganza is available for purchase as a digital download.

Among the many highlights featured on the album, titled A Symphony of British Music, are The Who's medley that served as the event's finale, Kinks frontman Ray Davies singing his band's classic "Waterloo Sunset," ***** members Brian May and Roger Taylor playing "We Will Rock You" with U.K. pop star Jessie J, and Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" performed by British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeren backed by Floyd drummer Nick Mason, Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford and others.

The collection also boasts recordings of classic songs by *****, John Lennon and David Bowie that were featured during the ceremony, as well as renditions of several Beatles tunes, including Russell Brand singing "I Am the Walrus" and the Urban Voices Collective performing "Because."

David Arnold, the ceremony's music director, says in a statement about the concept behind the event, "If there is a universal radio station that only tunes into British music and you close your eyes and dial through it and hear all these different things sparkling…and then you land on a certain moment, that's kind of the idea of what we're trying to do with this symphony."
