Henry Diltz/Elektra RecordsSurviving Doors members John Densmore, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek are confirmed to appear at the event marking the kickoff the 2012 Sunset Strip Music Festival on Thursday at The House of Blues Sunset Strip club in Los Angeles. Among the other luminaries expected to attend are former Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman, shock rocker Marilyn Manson and Cult guitarist Billy Morrison.
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. PT, when celebrity guests are scheduled to arrive at the red carpet. Then, at 8 p.m., a program celebrating The Doors will be presented. Finally, at 9 p.m., a star-studded concert tribute to the legendary Los Angeles band will be held.
While a lineup for the show has yet to be revealed, an announcement has been posted on The Doors' official website that reads, "Rumor has it Ray and Robby may join Black Label Society and Marilyn Manson at the all-star tribute to The Doors at Sunset Strip Music Festival."
As previously reported, Manzarek and Krieger will be playing separately at the festival this Friday. Manzarek will be performing with the L.A. punk veterans X at the Roxy, while Krieger will join forces with Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson for a show at The Viper Room.
