Insight EditionsA new book focusing on the life of late ***** frontman Freddie Mercury is scheduled for publication in October.  Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender serves as a companion piece to the similarly named documentary that's being released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 25. 

The book includes a wide variety of photos of the revered singer, including rare pics from his childhood and his early days in *****, some of the latter ones contributed by guitarist Brian May.  The volume also will feature images of Mercury in the studio and on stage, snapped by such acclaimed photographers as Neal Preston, Mick Rock and Snowden.

In addition, The Great Pretender features text by award-winning interviewer Sean O'Hagan that delves into the many periods of the singer's colorful and eventful life.  The book also will come packaged with a bonus CD offering an hour's worth of interviews with Mercury.
