Courtesy of Neil DiamondNeil Diamond has been busy thrilling fans across America since launching a major tour in the beginning of June. The trek will wind down on September 1 in Las Vegas, and the revered singer/songwriter reveals in a recent Los Angeles ***** interview that once it does, ***** finally have time to take care of some important unfinished business.
Diamond, who in April got married to his manager, Katie McNeill, says, "I owe my wife a honeymoon."
In addition, Diamond reports that he's ready to put together material for a new studio album.
"I'd like to take my performing hat off for a while and put my writer's hat on," he explains.
He adds that he intends to do a bit of multi-tasking while vacationing with his wife.
"I kind of think this album will be written on the run," he declares. "[Katie is] OK with me writing on my honeymoon, so I told her we'll just put on our traveling clothes, pack a very small bag and go somewhere."
Diamonds most recent collection of originals was 2010's Dreams, while a deluxe, 40th anniversary edition of his classic live album Hot August Night hit stores in late July.
