LoveforLevon.comAn all-star roster of musicians will be showing their love for Levon Helm this fall.
Dubbed Love for Levon, the October 3 benefit concert in memory of late drummer and member of The Band features a lineup of artists that's a testament to Helms's legacy. Included on the bill are John Mayer, My Morning Jacket, Ray LaMontagne, Gregg Allman, singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, Patty Griffin, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Bruce Hornsby, Jorma Kaukonen, Robert Randolph, gospel & R&B legend Mavis Staples, Joe Walsh, and Lucinda Williams, plus country stars Eric Church and Dierks Bentley. The Levon Helm Band will anchor the event, which takes place at the Izod center in East Rutherford, NJ. More participants are expected to be announced.
“We are deeply moved that so many musicians and friends of Levon’s are coming together to celebrate his life and his music” said Sandy and Amy Helm, Levon’s wife and daughter, in a statement. “We want to continue to honor his legacy by creating a musical landmark at the Barn, one that inspires and celebrates Americana music and its heritage.”
The Barn is the home to Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY and his legendary Midnight Ramble sessions, the last of which was August 11 and featured Lucinda Williams.
Levon Helm **** of cancer April 19 of this year at age 71.
Tickets for Love for Leon go on sale Wednesday, August 29 via Ticketmaster, with a special presale for CitiCard holders on Friday, August 24. Any remaining tickets will be available at The Barn box office beginning Thursday, August 30.
