Dorothy McGuire of the McGuire Sisters Dead at 84

Dorothy McGuire, far right/Sepia RecordsDorothy McGuire of the popular vocal group the McGuire Sisters **** Friday in Paradise Valley, Arizona, The New York ***** reports.  She was 84. 

Dorothy, along with her sisters -- Christine, 86, and Phyllis, 81 -- earned six gold records and scored a string of hits as a trio in the 1950s and early ‘60s, including “Sincerely” and “Sugartime.”

The McGuire Sisters were known for their harmonies and for wearing identical outfits on stage. They last performed together in 2004 on the PBS special, Magic Moments: The Best of ‘50s Pop.

In addition to her two sisters, Dorothy McGuire is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lowell Williamson, two sons, two stepchildren and nine grandchildren.
