Bruce Springsteen Tune Played After President Obama's Convention Speech Enjoys Sales Surge

Photo: Danny ClinchBruce Springsteen may not be actively stumping for Barack Obama in 2012, but his music has been a big part of the president's reelection campaign.  "We Take Care of Own, the lead track from the Boss' latest album, Wrecking Ball, appears on Obama's official campaign soundtrack and was played immediately after the president finished the speech that closed the recent Democratic National Convention.

Now, Springsteen can thank Obama for helping boost sales of the track.  Billboard.com reports that sales of "We Take of Our Own" increased 409 percent over its previous week following the political rally.  The tune sold 2,000 digital copies during the week ending September 9, marking its most successful week since this past March.

Wrecking Ball also apparently benefited from the exposure, enjoying a 37 percent sales bump during the same period.  The album sold 3,000 copies that week, helping it move from 199 to 112 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Back in March, Wrecking Ball debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, becoming Springsteen's 10th album to top the chart.
