Facebook.com/OfficialArtGarfunkelPageOrganizers of two concerts in Sweden featuring Art Garfunkel claim the 70-year-old singer failed to appear at both events and instead flew home to the U.S.
Garfunkel was scheduled to perform Friday night in Goteborg, and Saturday night in the city of Malmo.
The reason for the cancellations remains unclear but concert organizer Julius Malmstrom told the local Sydsvenskan newspaper he had seen Garfunkel on Thursday and that he looked healthy but did not seem confident about his voice.
Organizers of the scheduled “Night of the Proms” concerts said they could not find Garfunkel at his hotel and were informed that he had left the country, accompanied by his entourage.
Garfunkel's 2012 return from vocal troubles that sidelined him from performing for more than two years hasn't exactly gone as smoothly as he'd hoped. After playing his first scheduled show this year, an August 11 gig in Williamstown, Massachusetts, the singer postponed a number of subsequent concerts because of what he described as a severe cold.
Garfunkel has a number of U.S. dates lined up, beginning with an October 5 appearance in Morristown, New Jersey.
