Jensen CommunicationsFollowing his appearance this past Sunday at the Washington, D.C., concert celebrating the centennial of Woody Guthrie's birth, Donovan has headed to New York City for a couple of special events this week.
On Thursday, the folk-rock legend will take part in a screening of the new documentary Meditation Creativity Peace, which focuses a 16-country lecture tour that director David Lynch embarked on in 2007 to share his beliefs in the teachings of Transcendental Meditation. Donovan, who appears in the flick, will participate in a Q&A session after the screening. He also will be presented with the David Lynch Foundation's "Transcendental Musician Award" at the event, which is being held at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema.
Then, on Friday, Donovan will play a show at the Concert Hall at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. That gig is one of only two more scheduled performances the singer/songwriter has left on his 2012 itinerary -- the other being an October 28 concert at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
Donovan, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past April, is planning to mount a world tour in 2013.
