Photo by Marc Andrew Deley/Getty ImagesHere's wishing a very happy birthday to one of the undisputed inventors rock 'n' roll, Chuck Berry, who turns 86 today. The pioneering musician, who is responsible for giving the world such classic tunes as "Johnny B. Goode," "Maybellene," "Rock and Roll Music," "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Sweet Little Sixteen," to name but a few, is still reeling and rocking to this day.
As previously reported, Berry will be the honoree of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 17th annual American Music Masters series next week in Cleveland. The ******, titled "Roll Over Beethoven: The Life and Music of Chuck Berry," will kick off on Monday and will feature interviews, movies, panel discussions and presentations about the legendary musician. The series will come to a close on October 27 with a star-studded tribute concert at the Playhouse Square's State Theater. Berry himself is scheduled to perform at the show, which also will feature Rick Derringer, The Isley Brothers' Ernie Isley, country legend Merle Haggard, New York Dolls singer David Johansen, Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister, Run-DMC's Darryl McDaniels and others.
