Legacy RecordingsHeart's Ann and Nancy Wilson are the daughters of a decorated Marine Corps officer, and their new song "Dear Old America," is dedicated to their dad and other members of the military. Now the group is putting together a video for the song, which appears on their new album Fanatic, and the Wilson sisters are asking fans to help.
A website, DearOldAmerica.com, has been launched, where you can submit for inclusion in the upcoming video a photo of a loved one who serves or has served in the military. Pictures will be accepted until this Friday. The video is scheduled to premier on AOL Music's Spinner website on November 12, Veteran's Day.
Speaking recently with Spinner about the song, Ann Wilson explains, "The lyrics to 'Dear Old America' are written through the eyes of a soldier, when they think about what it's like to be shipped out, what it's like to be there and then what it's like to re-enter and come back and not be able to really explain to anybody over here in America what you just saw."
Adds the singer, "'Dear Old America' is especially written for those men and women who have served, those men and women who have put themselves out there on the edge, and who are trying to come home and return to the world as it is here."
A video of Heart performing the tune live has been posted exclusively at Spinner.
