Facebook.com/MadonnaShe probably wouldn't want you to remind her of this fact, but this week, Madonna celebrates her 30th anniversary on the Billboard charts. It was November 6, 1982, when she first entered the Dance/Club Play Songs chart at #40 with her debut single, "Everybody." Since then, Madonna's racked up a historic number of songs across many of Billboard's numerous charts. For example:
--When you take every Billboard chart into consideration, Madonna has been #1 on one or another of them a record 156 *****. That's more than any artist. Her most recent #1 was her latest single, "Turn Up the Radio," which topped the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart. When it comes to that chart, she's been #1 on it 43 *****, also more than any other artist.
--Madonna has scored 38 top 10 singles, which is also more than any other artist. Even The Beatles bow to the ***** of Pop: they only had 34 top 10s. Madonna's top 10s run from 1984's "Borderline" through 2012's "Give Me All Your Luvin.'"
--Madonna has charted 56 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, tying her with Taylor Swift and Dionne Warwick. Among female artists, only Aretha Franklin has had more.
--Madonna's chart record also includes 12 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. That ties her with The Supremes, who also had a dozen. Only The Beatles, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson have had more.
--Finally, Madonna has had 20 top-10 albums. Among women, only Barbra Streisand has had more. Out of those 20, eight of Madonna's reached #1. Her most recent chart-topper came in April, with MDNA.
