SoulTrain.comStevie Wonder was a surprise guest star at the 25th annual Soul Train Awards, held Thursday night at the Planet Hollywood Casino in Las Vegas. The Motown legend took part in an homage to late Soul Train creator Don Cornelius, and also performed a medley of hits to close out the festivities, during which about a dozen of the show's performers and presenters joined him on stage for "Signed, Sealed, Delivered."
The entire evening served as a tribute to Cornelius, who **** February 1 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Cornelius' son Tony made an appearance, a short video tribute was included in the show, and numerous clips of Cornelius were shown throughout the evening.
Gladys Knight had been scheduled to take part in the ceremony, but the soul star was conspicuously absent.
This year's Soul Train Awards ceremony will air on BET and Centric on Sunday, November 25.
