The legendary New Orleans soul singer will celebrate the collection's impending release with a concert on November 28 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, New York, that will be filmed for a PBS special that's expected to premiere in March.
Neville will be accompanied by a band that includes his older brother Charles on saxophone and David Johansen on backing vocals. Aaron also will be joined by founding Jive Five singer Eugene Pitt and ex-Del-Vikings member ****** Harmon, who both appear on the album, as well as other special guests.
My True Story, which was co-produced by Don Was and The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, features a selection of Aaron's favorite tunes from the doo-wop era. Among the classics Neville wraps his memorable voice around are "Be My Baby," "Little Bitty Pretty One," "Tears on My Pillow" and "Under the Boardwalk. Richards also lent his guitar talents to the collection.
One of songs on My True Story, "Ting a Ling," is streaming at AaronNeville.com, and is available as a free download for a limited time.
