Barry Manilow Scores 50th Adult Contemporary Chart Hit

Facebook.com/BarryManilowBarry Manilow has reached a new milestone in his more-than-40-year career.  Billboard reports that the entertainer has just scored his 50th hit on the publication's Adult Contemporary chart.

The song that did the trick for him is his version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," which enters the chart at #22.  It's on Manilow's new compilation The Classic Christmas Album.

Barry is now only the fifth artist who's ever had 50 hits or more on that particular chart.  The others are Elton John, who's had 68; Barbra Streisand with 64; Neil Diamond with 58; and Elvis Presley with 53.

Manilow's first AC chart appearance came in 1974 with "Mandy."  He's had 13 #1 hits on the tally -- only Elton and The Carpenters have had more.
