Paul McCartney Says He Narrowly Escaped Hurricane Sandy

MJ Kim/MPL Communications Ltd.Paul McCartney will be one of the performers at next month's benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Sandy at New York City's Madison Square Garden, scheduled for December 12.   But the former Beatle has now revealed that he himself narrowly escaped the superstorm.

Speaking to the British paper The Sun, Paul said, "I actually just escaped Sandy.  I was so [lucky].  I had taken my little one on holiday to the Bahamas.  The day I was supposed to be leaving, they told me there was a storm blowing in.  I’d just flown out of there and that evening the storm hit."  He added, "It was terrible.  I just scraped out of that.”

As for his involvement in the benefit concert, Paul said he "had a few ideas" when he was invited to join the bill, which also includes The Who, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jon Bon Jovi and others. "I’ve got a couple of special moments up my sleeve," he teases.
