Carole King to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday

CaroleKing.comCarole King will be honored in downtown Los Angeles next week with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  The unveiling ceremony will take place on Monday at 11:30 a.m. PT at 6906 Hollywood Boulevard across the way from The Dolby Theatre.

A number of as-yet-unannounced guests are expected to speak during the presentation, which will be hosted Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Leron Gubler.

"Carole has written numerous songs that are ingrained in the hearts of many and conjure up great memories of ***** past," says Gubler in a statement.

For fans who can't make it out to the event, the festivities will be streamed live online at WalkOfFame.com.

King will receive her Walk of Fame honor one day before a star-studded benefit concert paying tribute to her amazing body of work is scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre.  Carole herself will perform at the show, which will raise money for The Painted Turtle, a camp co-founded by the late Paul Newman that provides year-round experiences for kids with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

The lineup for the event, dubbed "You've Got a Friend: A Live Celebration of Carole King and Her Music," also will feature such luminaries as Darlene Love, Herb Alpert, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and John Legend, among others.  Hosting the fundraiser will be Jack Nicholson and legendary producer Quincy Jones.
