Rod Stewart to Donate Christmas Single Proceeds to Charity

RodStewart.comIn the U.S., Rod Stewart topped the Adult Contemporary charts with his rendition of the holiday classic "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"  But in the U.K., he's releasing a different Christmas single, and donating the proceeds to charity.

The Scottish Daily Record reports that on Sunday, Stewart will release his version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," from his best-selling holiday album Merry Christmas, Baby.  The money from sales of the single will go to both the Celtic Charity Fund and to the Teenage Cancer Trust, which is one of the fund's beneficiaries.

The Celtic Charity Fund is a fund set up by Rod's favorite soccer team, Celtic F.C., which raises money for a variety of causes.  The Teenage Cancer Trust, of course, is a charity that The Who's Roger Daltrey has long supported.  It constructs specialized hospital units to meet the specific ***** of teenagers and young adults with cancer and related diseases.

The paper quotes Stewart as saying, "I live a blessed and wonderful life and it means a lot to me to be able to do something that can help young people with cancer."  He adds, "I really admire the work done by Teenage Cancer Trust and I'm happy that Celtic Football Club’s charity fund will help raise money for such a worthwhile cause."
