In a recent message posted on the group's official Facebook page, the singer reports that he spent this past Tuesday recording at Blue Moon Studio near Los Angeles with longtime REO guitarist Dave Amato.
"We want to have some new music available before the summer tour dates," writes Cronin. "We love playing the hits as much as you all love to hear them, but we need to have a new song or two to add to the set list so we can express what we are feeling NOW!"
Last month, an article in The Tennessean reported that REO had been spending time in Nashville working on country-flavored songs for a new album, but it's not known whether the new tunes Cronin mentions will be a part of that project.
Cronin also reveals that REO Speedwagon is in the process of organizing another road trip with their 2012 tour mates Styx and Ted Nugent. He says the trek likely will launch in the spring adding that details will be "coming in the near future."
Lastly, Kevin shares that he and his family have been busy preparing for the holidays.
"I just got the lights up on the family Christmas tree," he notes. "My son Paris was up on the ladder hanging lights on the house. The Holidays are family time, I wish you all the best."
