Madonna, Springsteen Top "Billboard" List of 2012's Most Successful Tours

Kevin Mazur/WireImageBillboard revealed its Top 25 Tours list for 2012 and the Material Girl herself, Madonna, landed in the pole position. The dance-pop queen's MDNA tour brought in an impressive $228,406,085 in gross earnings.  Perhaps even more impressive, all 72 dates on the trek were ********.

Finishing at #2 on the list were Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, whose outing raked in $199,371,791.  Right behind the Boss and his group was Roger Waters.  The ex-Pink Floyd mastermind's The Wall Live Tour earned $186,466,703.  At #4 was the Cirque du Soleil troupe's Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour with $147,310,505 in earnings.

Other veteran artists appearing on the tally included Van Halen, who finished in eighth place $54,425,548; Barbra Streisand, at #12 with $40,657,170; Elton John at #19 with $32,920,986; Rod Stewart at #21 with $30,158,491; and Neil Diamond at #22 with $29,910,078.

Billboard's top tours list was put together from Billboard Boxscore figures compiled from November 9, 2011, to November 13, 2012.
