Dave M. Benett/Getty ImagesRod Stewart has spent most of his adult life living the millionaire lifestyle, with mansions in various countries and any number of expensive sports cars. But these days, it appears he has simpler tastes. According to his wife, all the legendary singer wants for Christmas is...socks.
Speaking to the British magazine *****!, Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, says of her husband's Christmas list, "Rod is pretty easy to please. He never really wants anything; the things he likes are very simple luxuries: really good brushes for his model railway hobby, and cashmere socks which he loves to wear in bed and on planes because he gets really cold feet."
And, just like any put-upon dad, Penny says that on Christmas Day, Stewart will be looking for an escape from the ruckus their young sons Alastair and Aiden will be causing after the gifts are opened.
"In the afternoon all the boys want to do is jump around in all the wrapping paper and empty boxes," reveals Penny. "That's when Rod disappears to his library to watch television on the big screen, hoping that the mess will be cleared up on his return. He likes a tidy house."
By the way, if you've wondered what Penny thought of her husband's recent autobiography, which included all the details of his "***, ***** and rock and roll" shenanigans, she tells *****! that it just made her love him more.
"There's lots of little things I loved [in the book], like the fact [that he said] his window as a kid used to look out onto a railway track, which is the reason he loves trains so much," she says. "What was really moving for me was just how hard he worked – in the early days no one wanted him." Awww.
