New App Celebrates Release of Eric Clapton's Deluxe "Slowhand" Reissues

Universal Music GroupA new Facebook app has been launched in celebration of the release this week of the 35th anniversary reissues of Eric Clapton's classic 1977 album Slowhand.  The interactive Fender Tweed Amp application lets users check out various features of the deluxe Slowhand box set, including listening to samples of rare concert performances by the guitar legend that are included in the collection.

The free app also allows fans connect to Clapton's official website, VEVO channel and social media outlets, as well as offering a direct link to a page where the reissue box set can be purchased.  In addition, the program links to a contest giving fans the chance to win the deluxe multi-disc package and a high-quality vinyl LP of the remastered Slowhand.

The most expansive of the Slowhand reissues, the Super Deluxe Edition, features five discs, including a CD of the album with four extra tunes; a two-CD set boasting 14 performances from a April 1977 show Clapton played at London's Hammersmith Odeon; a DVD-Audio version of the original nine-track album; and a vinyl LP.  The set also offers replica tour programs and a book focusing on the making of the album.
