Rod Stewart's Christmas Album Is His Best-Selling Record in Seven Years

Verve Music GroupRod Stewart said not long ago that he resisted making a Christmas album for many years, because he felt, as a rock star, it was "beneath" him.  Well, it's a good thing he changed his mind, because that holiday collection has turned out to be his best-selling disc in seven years.

Billboard reports that Merry Christmas, Baby has now racked up sales of 823,000 copies since it came out back in October.  That makes it the legendary singer's best-selling album since 2005's Thanks for the Memory...The Great American Songbook Vol. IV.  Since then, Stewart has released two best-of compilations, as well as three other albums, but none of them have sold as well as the Christmas disc.

Merry Christmas, Baby also has spun off Rod's first #1 hit on the Adult Contemporary chart since 1993: "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow."  The album itself currently sits at #6 on the Billboard 200 tally.
