Kevin Mazur/WireImageBillboard named Madonna's MDNA tour the top-grossing trek of the year in December, but the publication's figures only ran through November 13. Pollstar, however, has calculated the grosses for tours through the entire year -- and Madonna's still on top.
According to Pollstar's list of the Top 50 Worldwide Tours, Madonna's MDNA tour grossed $296.1 million over 88 shows. She topped Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, who came in second with $210.2 million over 81 concerts. Right behind the Boss was former Pink Floyd singer/bassist Roger Waters, whose The Wall Live Tour landed at #3 after grossing $186.4 million over 72 shows.
Also landing in the top 10 of the Pollstar tally were the Cirque du Soleil production Michael Jackson: The Immortal at #5 with $140.2 million and Elton John at #9 with $69.9 million.
Other artists who made the Pollstar's list of 2012's top-grossing tours include Paul McCartney at #11 with $56.9 million, Van Halen at #15 with $49.9 million, Leonard Cohen at #17 with $46.1 million, Barbra Streisand at #22 with $40.7 million, The Rolling Stones at #33 with $35.5 million, Jimmy Buffett at #39 with $32.3 million and Aerosmith at #44 with $31.0 million.
