ABKCO RecordsA few months ago, back surgery forced Eric Burdon to delay the release of his latest solo effort, 'Til Your River Runs Dry, but now the founding Animals singer is ready to release the collection. The 12-track record will hit stores on January 29, and will be available as a CD, a vinyl LP and a digital download.
Burdon wrote most of the songs on 'Til Your River Runs Dry, which features an intimate collection of tunes that touch on his views about religion, politics and the environment. In a new promotional video, the 71-year-old rock great explains that the theme of the album is "the light and the darkness of life." He adds, "Everything changes and, somewhere along the line, I'm changing with it."
The record's lead single, "Water," will be released to radio on January 15. Burdon will celebrate the arrival of 'Til Your River Runs Dry with a January 28 appearance on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. During the show, ***** perform with Fallon's house band, The Roots. Burdon also has scheduled a series of North American tour dates to support the album.
In other news, this year marks the 50th anniversary of The Animals, and to celebrate the milestone a special compilation is being prepared for release later in 2013. Burdon also is writing a new autobiography that will follow his two previous memoirs, I Used to Be an Animal, but I'm Alright Now and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.
