Rod Stewart Initially Thought a Christmas Album Was "Beneath" Him

Penny LancasterSome artists resist the idea of doing Christmas albums because they think it'll be seen as a money grab, or because they think they're not far enough along in their careers yet to get away with it.  But in Rod Stewart's case, he says he initially resisted doing one because of his rock-star ego.

Speaking to Billboard about his new holiday album, Merry Christmas, Baby, Rod says, "I think maybe I thought it was beneath me, years ago, to do a Christmas album. I thought, 'I'm a dyed-in-the-wool rocker.  I cannot do Christmas albums -- or standards.'" read more ≫


Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters Nominated for Billboard Touring Awards

Photo: Jo LopezBruce Springsteen and Roger Waters are among the artists competing for top honors at the 2012 Billboard Touring Awards, set for next Thursday at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.  The veteran rockers are finalists in both the Top Tour category, which acknowledges highest-grossing tours of the year, and the Top Draw category, which honors the highest-attended tours.

The awards are based on numbers reported to Billboard from October 1, 2011, through September 30, 2012. read more ≫


Official Queen Tribute Show Sets New Tour Dates

*****Extravaganza.comThe ***** Extravaganza -- the official ***** tribute show produced by drummer Roger Taylor -- is returning to the road in North America.

Following their North American tour last summer, the ***** Extravaganza will hit the road again beginning with a show in Tarrytown, NY on January 11 and ending with a show in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 3, just following a six-show residency in Quebec. read more ≫


The Rolling Stones Play Second "Secret" Paris Gig

Photo by InvisionThe secret's out -- the Rolling Stones played a second so-called "secret" show in Paris this week. 

On Monday night, the band took the stage at the 1,800-seat Theatre Mogador, playing a 12-song set including several classics not played at the band's previous Paris show, including "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "All Down the Line."  Last Thursday the group played the smaller, 600-capacity La Trabendo. read more ≫
