Christina Gerhardt is an environmental journalist and a professor of journalism. Utilizing her skill and awareness from both these fields, she has crafted a unique approach in having us look at our environment, and at our earth, all within the format of a stunning coffee table book: Sea Change: An Atlas of Islands in a Rising Ocean. Christina weaves together her essays with poetry and prose from these islands, along with maps. She’s outlining the crisis that exists for islands, and is equally true for all coastal areas, providing the methods being incorporated to protect people and cities. 

Christina will be speaking at Elliot Bay Book Store on Thursday, July 13, 7pm, along with science journalist Madeline Ostrander.
