Gonzaga Season Ends One Game Away From Final Four

Zags Fall to Texas Tech in Elite Eight, 76-69

Bulldogs finish season 33-4

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Gonzaga men’s basketball team’s season came to a close with a 76-69 loss to Texas Tech in the Elite Eight at the Honda Center Saturday.

Four Zags finished in double-figures led by Rui Hachimura’s 22 points and six boards. Brandon Clarke finished with 18 points and game-high 12 rebounds. Josh Perkins added 16 points and six assists, while Zach Norvell, Jr. added 10 points.

Gonzaga (33-4) controlled the glass with a 37-29 advantage and held a 19-5 advantage in fast-break points.

The Bulldogs pulled within 71-69 on Zach Norvell Jr.’s putback with 11 seconds left.

Tech’s Davide Moretti hit both free throws on the other end, and then two more after the Zags fouled in desperation.

Jarrett Culver led the Red Raiders with 19 points, and Mooney, a transfer from South Dakota, had 17.

This was a tight, back-and-forth game. Neither team led by more than five for the first 38:10 until a trey from Moretti put the Red Raiders in front by six. Gonzaga twice cut the lead to two, both in the last 10 seconds, but Texas Tech converted free throws down the stretch to secure the 76-69 win and advance to its first Final Four.
