Lester Records Ltd./BMG Rights ManagementCrowded House frontman Neil Finn, who joined Fleetwood Mac‘s lineup in 2018 along with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell, has now tapped Campbell and two other Fleetwood Mac members — Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie — to contribute to a new benefit single.
“Find Your Way Back Home” is an introspective ballad that features the vocal talents of Nicks and McVie, as well as Campbell on slide guitar. The song, which is available now as a digital single and via streaming services, was written by Finn to help raise funds and awareness for a planned housing and social-services facility in Auckland, New Zealand.
Finn, a New Zealand native, is donating all proceeds from the song to the project, dubbed HomeGround, which is being built by the Auckland City Mission and which will provide apartments to homeless people, as well as offer community spaces, a café, a pharmacy, a rehab center, and much more.
The track features Finn sharing lead vocals Nicks, backing vocals by McVie and Georgia Knott of the New Zealand indie-pop duo Broods, and drums by Neil’s son Elroy, who’s a current member of Crowded House.
“I have always been aware of how important the City Mission is in our community representing and supporting every day the homeless people of Auckland,” says Finn. “Now more than ever, as we shelter in place I am reminded that everyone deserves to have a home where they can feel safe and be well.”
Adds Nicks, “I’m honored to be a part of Neil’s song for the Auckland City Mission. He is on a mission to make this work and I think this beautiful song he has written will certainly help.”
An accompanying video for the track has been posted at the Auckland City Mission’s YouTube channel.
